The sandy part of the beach is totally unsuitable for walking and playing due the presence of dangerous quicksand. Every few weeks, a fast-moving tidal wave sweeps across Arnside Beach. An alarm sounds 15-20 minutes before the wave, known as ‘The Bore’, is due.
