Calshot beach is home to one of the UK’s biggest outdoor and watersport centres. The Calshot Activities Centre has windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing and climbing activities available. The centre is located in a hangar which was built to house the flying boats of the Calshot Naval Air Station.
Calshot Castle stands on the narrow Calshot Spit, overlooking the deep-water channel running through into Southampton. It was built by Henry VIII in 1539 as part of his chain of defences along the English south coast.
