More info: Castelldefels is located at the heart of Costa del Garraf, between the mountainous landscape of the massif of Garraf and the Mediterranean and has more than five kilometres of fine sandy beaches. The ancient castle of Fels, which gave this town its name, dominates the coastline of the city. There are also medieval defence towers, erected in the 16th century, such as the towers of Can Ballester and Barona.

Castelldefels is often seen as an extension of Barcelona. It is home to the British School of Barcelona and around 23% of its population is made up of foreigners, of which more than half are originally from European countries. Most of the inhabitants of Castelldefels commute to Barcelona for work or social activities. The city is home to the Olympic Canal, originally built for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, it is a man made fresh water canal which is a popular place for people to practice water sports.

Castelldefels beach with its consistent, stable winds is a very popular go-to place for all kitesurfers from the Barcelona area.

The nearby Garraf Natural Park is a huge area of 12,820 hectares and offers a number of options for those who enjoy nature, hiking or mountain biking and also has breathtaking views. There is also an astronomy observatory there.
