More info: Kamøyvær in the North Cape, is situated along the Kamøyfjorden on the east side of the island of Magerøya, about 10 kilometres northwest of the town of Honningsvåg.
Kamøyvær has a harbour which is sheltered from the open sea by the two islands of Lille Kamøya and Store Kamøya. At the north side of the village, on a hill, there is a small lighthouse - the Kamøyfjord light.
The main industry in the area is fishing and some tourism in the summer. Kamøyvær is an excellent starting point for deep-sea fishing trips as Kamøyfjord is one of Europe's most fish-rich fjords.
There are around 70 inhabitants in Kamøyvær today. The people of the village are descended from coastal Sami and Kven as well as Norwegians.
