Nanaimo Harbour is a natural harbour on the east coast of Vancouver Island, facing the west coast of Canada.
The webcam is located on top of thr Port Theatre in Nanaimo.
More info: Nanaimo is 113 km north of Victoria and 55 km across the Strait of Georgia from Vancouver. The city projects out into the strait like a headland, affording waterfront on three sides as well as spectacular ocean views. Close by is Mount Benson which rises to 1,006 metres (3,300 feet) just west of Nanaimo. Nanaimo River estuary, the largest estuary on Vancouver Island flows into Nanaimo Harbour at the south end of the city.
BC Ferries operates two sailing routes between Nanaimo, Vancouver Island and the terminals of Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen in Vancouver which take 90 minutes to 2 hours depending upon the destination.
Nanaimo's most noted annual event is the "bathtub weekend" (during its Marine Festival), when "tubbers" from around the world race in motor-powered bathtubs from Nanaimo Harbour to Departure Bay.
