More info: yawatahama is a port town on the Sadamisaki Peninsula which juts out of the western side of Shikoku, into the sea known as Uwakai. This sea lies between Shikoku and Kyushu, and Yawatahama serves as one of the ports linking these two southern islands.
The ferry terminal is in the southern part of the city and has frequent car and passenger ferries. Two companies run ferries from Yawatahama : Uwajima Unyu with ferries to Beppu and Usuki, and Orenge with ferries to Usuki only. It takes 2 hours and 25 minutes from Yawatahama to Usuki, and 2 hours and 50 minutes to Beppu.
