More info: Jokulsarlon is a large glacial lake in southern part of Vatnajokull National Park in Iceland. It is situated at the head of the Breioamerkurjokull glacier and developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

The movement of the icebergs fluctuate with the tide currents and the direction of the wind. The colour of the icebergs – milky white and bright blue – depends on how much air is trapped within them and is an interplay of light and ice crystals.

From the lagoon of Jokulsarlon, the glaciers get washed out to sea where they are broken up by churning waves and end up washed up on the black sands of nearby Diamond Beach

Seals are found at Jokulsarlon lagoon year-round, but they are particularly active in the winter when they come to catch their food. The water is teeming with fish like herring, trout, salmon, krill, and capelin, which make a tasty snack for the seals and seabirds
