More info: The Port of Gavrio is the first port of the Island of Andros in the Greek Cyclades archipelago and is located on the southwest of the island. It was developed at the end of the 1960s when the ferry boats to the Andros Town port stopped, and since then has been the primary port of the island. In recent years it has evolved into a tourist resort along with the area at Kypri Beach.
The Tower of Agios Petros is on a hill overlooking the bay of Gavrio. It is thought to have been built in the Hellenistic Era, in the 4th or 3rd century BC, as a lookout tower to protect the island from invasion by sea.
