The village of Braithwaite is a popular tourist destination within the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. As well as its quaint charm, there are three public houses and The Village Shop which has been trading for almost 200 years.

Braithwaite is well located between Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake, and is in close proximity to Whinlatter Forest, as well as being on the Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route.

As well as an area with many walking routes, Braithwaite offers a range of sports and pastimes including sailing, climbing, abseiling, canoeing, hang-gliding, parasailing, orienteering, bird watching and photography.
