More info: Yosemite National Park, n California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, is home to numerous waterfalls. The best time to see waterfalls is in May or June when peak runoff typically occurs. By August, some waterfalls, including Yosemite, are often reduced to only a trickle or completely dry. Storms in late fall rejuvenate some of the falls and all of them accumulate frost along their edges many nights during the winter.
Yosemite National Park covers an aea of 1,189 square miles (3,080 square km) and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984.
