More info: The Royal Albert Bridge was constructed in 1859 and was one of the crowning achievements of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, whi died shortly after the bridge was completed. Despite the scale and complexity of the bridge, it took just five years to build.
The Royal Albert Bridge spans the River Tamar and links Devon and Cornwall, carrying the London to Penzance railway line. The bridge stands 100 feet above the River Tamar, and is more than 2,000 feet long. The Royal Albert Bridge is used by First Great Western, Virgin, EWS, Freightliner and Imerys. 21,000 trains use the bridge a year.
