More info: Founded in 1956, The Lake Shore Railway Historical Society (LSHRS) founded the museum in 1956. It is an all-volunteer educational organization. The museum is on the grounds of the former New York Central Railroad passenger depot in the borough of North East in Erie County, Pennsylvania.

In addition to the historic locomotives and rolling stock, Lake Shore Railway Museum has many other artifacts and equipment pertinent to America’s and the region’s railroad heritage, all maintained by LSRHS at the museum. There are 25 train cars and engines, most of which were manufactured by General Electric at their plant in Erie County and were used throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York.
