Acapulco is a beach resort city on the Pacific coast of Mexico, in the state of Guerrero. It is Mexico's biggest beach resort.
The webcam is located at Hotel Las Brisas Acapulco.
More info: Acapulco is about 239 miles (385 km) from Mexico City and 83 miles (133 km) from the capital of the state of Guerrero called Chilpancingo.
In the 1950s, long before the rise of Cancún and Cabo, Acapulco was the go-to Mexican vacation destination and the city of vibrant nightlife. During its heyday, the "Pearl of the Pacific" attracted the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and even John F. Kennedy.
Acapulco lies on one of the loveliest bays in Mexico, with long curved sandy beaches, backed by high rise buildings framed against the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains.
The resort area is divided into three parts: the north end of the bay and beyond is the "traditional" area, which encompasses the area from Parque Papagayo through the Zócalo and onto the beaches of Caleta and Caletilla, the main part of the bay known as "Zona Dorada" ('golden zone' in Spanish), where the famous in the mid-20th century vacationed, and the south end, "Diamante" ('diamond' in Spanish), which is dominated by newer luxury high-rise hotels and condominiums.
Today, most of Acapulcos visitors and tourists come from within Mexico, due to a massive increase in gang violence and homicides and the US government has warned its citizens not to travel there
