On September 27th, Hezbollah confirmed that its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, had been killed in an Israeli air strike.
More info: Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire across their borders since the start of the war with Gaza in October 2023, however, the conflict between the two goes back nearly half a century.
Beirut is the capital city of Lebanon, the largest city and the main port. The city sits on a peninsular which extends westwards in to the Mediteraanean Sea and is flanked by the Lebanon Mountains.
