Live streaming webcam in Gaza in the Middle East. The Gaza Strip is bounded by Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. Together with the West Bank, it makes up the Palestinian territories. Since 2007, Gaza has been governed by Hamas.
The large-scale surprise attack by Hamas on Israel on Saturday October 7th, prompted a formal declaration of war by Israel, the following day.

More info: The Gaza Strip is 25 miles long and 6 miles wide, with a population of 2.3 million people, of which roughly 75% are uner 25 years of age. Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

The Gaza Strip is surrounded by a heavily fortified perimeter consisting of a concrete wall and double-wired fencing which is guarded by the Israeli army. The Beit Hanoon crossing, known as Erez to Israelis and managed by the Israeli army, is Gaza’s only northern crossing into Israel. The southernmost district of Gaza called Rafah is where the border crossings in to Egypt are located.

Years of conflict and blockade have left 80 per cent of the population dependent on international assistance. Over half a million Palestine refugees in Gaza live in the eight recognized Palestine refugee camps, which have one of the highest population densities in the world.

Gaza's history of habitation dates back 5,000 years, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. The Old City forms the main part of Gaza's nucleus. Many of the structures date from the Mamluk and Ottoman eras, with some having been built on earlier structures. The ancient part of the Old City covers an area of around 1.6 square kilometres (0.62 sq mi).
