More info: Las Palmas the capital of the island of Gran Canaria, is located in the northeastern corner of the island. The Vegueta neighbourhood is home to the city's most emblematic buildings, along ith the main museums. The centre is dominated by the Canary Islands Cathedral, flanked by the Plaza de Santa Ana, which has important historical buildings: the Town Hall, the Episcopal Palace, the Regent's House and the Provincial Historical Archive.

Also located in the historic district of Vegueta, is the Casa de Colón whih has a collection of paintings dating from the 16th to the 19th century and interesting exhibits which range from Flemish panels to Goya engravings.
