More info: Turnov is a town situated on the Jizera river in the Liberec Region in the northern Czech Republic and lies in the heart of the nature reserve of the Bohemian Paradise.
Turnov is a traditional centre for gemstone polishing and glass craftsmanship and arts. A local school of applied arts was established in 1884 as the first of its kind in Europe and focuses on the treatment of stone and metals and the production of jewels. Cutting of precious stones and the unique manufacture of Czech garnet jewels made Turnov famous all over the world.
Hlavatice Lookout Rock is located about 2km south of turnov. It is an isolated sandstone rock on the northern edge of the plateau of Hruba Skala at around 380m above sea level. It offers stunning views of the surrounding countyside.
Valdstejn Castle is an early Gothic fortress near Turnov and is a popular destination for visitors. It is the oldest castle in the area of the Bohemian Paradise. The surroundings of the castle are home to a beautiful forest complex with about four hundred sandstone rock towers.
